Descripción

Test your visionary powers of calculation, by practising pattern recognition. A FIDE-rated chess player presents 10 problem positions, one-by-one. First, when the diagram is displayed on the board, and you are told your task (to find White or Black's best continuation), you have the chance to pause the video. Then try to analyze the position, just as you would in a real chess game -- this enhances your abilities for when you're playing that crucial over-the-board game in a tournament. Next, the second part: a couple of hints are given, based on positional properties; this will increase your intuitive awareness of contributing factors to the tactical shot. After your second pause, the solution will be shown. The tactic will be explained, so you fully understand why it works. When this thematic tactical motif is registered in the brain, you can have a better chance of finding it in future.
