Descripción

This is my first attempt at a run of the bosses in the Game Boy Advance game "Virtual Kasparov". This is the second part of a 3-part video. Here's a rundown of the game details: Game 4 ----------- Now, for Asia's boss... The game opens with the Panov attack of the Caro-Kann defense, which is a very active option against the Caro-Kann; the only positional downside to this is the creation of an isolated d-pawn which, as long as you stay active, can prove to be a good spearhead for an attack. In the middlegame, all of my pieces find active placement (Rook on open c-file, Bishops on kingside diagonals, Knight watching e5), so I naturally go in for the attack with the strong moves Ne5, Qg5, and Rc3. His Knight plays between f6 and d5 waste a lot of time that allow me to reposition my attacking pieces optimally. Just when it seems like he's going to weather the storm, he takes the offered exchange sacrifice on c3... which allows me to destroy his kingside light squares. After Qg6, it looks as if I'm going to force through a mate but, with the strong defense ...Kg8!, I would've had to go into a deep think. The two options would be retaking on c3 (of course), or continuing the attack by Qh7+ Kxf8 Qh8+ Ke7 Qxg7 Kd6 Qe5+ Kc6 Rc1!, bringing the last attacking piece into play via the pin. I would've gone for the second in a heartbeat, even if it meant eventually losing; the first option is just no fun. Regardless, he didn't play the best defense, so I mated and moved on. Game 5b.../b
